David Cain is an accomplished intellectual property expert with over 40 years of experience in patent law and innovation strategy. As Vaiu’s Chief Intellectual Property Counsel, David leverages his expertise to protect and advance the company’s technological leadership. His career began with 13 years at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, where he served as a Primary Examiner specializing in Cryptography, Spread Spectrum, and Directional Radio, examining foundational patents in these fields. David has also spent over two decades in private practice, advising startups, global corporations, and individual inventors on securing and monetizing patent portfolios, focusing on efficiency and profitability. For the past 16 years, he has served as General Patent Counsel for Microtransponder. In this groundbreaking medical device startup, he guided the development of a robust and innovative portfolio of 40+ patents. David holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics from the University of Kansas and a Juris Doctor from the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University.
